MAKE A NOMINATION

How it works

While our capacity is limited, we do our best to serve all who are nominated, with a particular focus on serving two categories: children who face life-threatening illnesses and servicemen and women who have provided extraordinary service to our country.

Most Big Hearts nominations come from trusted partner organizations after a thorough vetting process and in consideration with the longstanding relationships held with these organizations. However, we understand there are many deserving families across the United States that would benefit from a Big Hearts trip, so we are more than happy to consider nominations from individuals or other organizations outside of the Big Hearts Family to the best of our ability.

If you know of a family that would benefit from a Big Hearts trip, please submit your nomination below

Qualification of Nominees

  • To qualify, the child must be less that 18 years of age at the time of nomination and must be facing a diagnosed life-threatening illness.
  • The nomination must be supported with a physician’s letter clearly stating that the child is physically able to participate in the requested trip experience.
  • Prioritization will be given to children who have not previously been on a once-in-a-lifetime trip
  • Any active duty or honorably discharged member of the military, caregivers, combat wounded and non-wounded veterans that would benefit from time in the outdoors with family.
  • We are a family-centric organization so military and First Responder families in need of shared outdoor experiences are a priority. We fully recognize the supporting role of family and the shared sacrifices they make in the course of their service.
  • Big Hearts focuses on the family unit. Servicemen and women will not be considered on an individual basis.
  • Our priority is on nominees who have not previously had a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
  • Military personnel will be asked to submit copies of DD 214 and other documentation (Purple Heart) as necessary.

  • Successful nominees will be contacted directly to facilitate trip planning
